Mandarin Buffet Restaurant Complaints
|Mandarin was founded as a small Á-la-carte restaurant in Brampton in 1979 by James Chiu, George Chiu, Diana Chiu, and K.C. Chang. Their top priority was to ensure customer satisfaction by providing the freshest food and the best service.
In 1986, they changed their restaurant to buffet style to accommodate the long line ups of customers waiting to try their much talked about cuisine. They continuously maintained their commitment to customer satisfaction. This commitment is the basis of the company's mission statement: "Every customer must feel welcomed as soon as they arrive. Every customer must be happy and smiling when they leave".
Mandarin has grown to over 20 locations across southwestern Ontario. Each location is owned and operated by Front and Kitchen Managing Partners who have been promoted from within the organization. All of the Managing Partners share the same goal of customer satisfaction that drove the four founding partners. Each location's award-winning buffet has an extensive soup and salad bar, grill tables, a prime rib counter, a sushi corner, and a variety of hot foods showcasing the best in Chinese Canadian fare. An array of desserts and an ice cream sundae bar offer the perfect end to the meal. Take-out and delivery are also available at every location.
The Mandarin Restaurant corporate headquarters, located in Brampton, Ontario, is home to the head office, a warehouse, The Garden Banquet & Convention Centre, and Mandarin Brampton, the corporately owned restaurant.
Mandarin is proud to support the community. Over the years, the company has been recognized for its contributions to various hospitals, educational institutions, and charitable organizations. Mandarin continues to win numerous consumer choice awards, including being named Best Buffet by Toronto Sun readers for over 15 years.

I am a huge Mandarin Buffet supporter, however yesterday April 16,2016 was the worst and most disappointing experience. I had to write in to voice my concerns we went as a family of four to your restaurant with our 9 month grandson ,we were greeted with the same as all the other restaurants with smile and courtesy, the service was OK not great the young man rarely came to our table to take away the plates and did not really acknowledge us. Our grand son started to get ill and started to throw up, we could not find anyone nor did anyone come to our assistant to offer a napkin or anything, We quickly finished our meal ( which was amazing as usual ) and then could not find the waiter to get the bill...I FINALLY FOUND THEM AND WENT TO PAY TO OUR DISMAY WE COULD NOT PAY BY CREDIT CARD AND WAS PROMTLY TOLD BY THE YOUNG LADY NO DEBIT OR CREDIT...WE WERE SHOCKED SHE SAID IT WAS POSTED ON THE DOOR( IT WAS BUT NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO NOTICE ) I WAS TOLD TO LINE UP AT THE ATM WITH EVERY ONE ELSE ( THE LINE WAS 10 LONG AND THE ATM WAS HAVING PROBLEMS) AS SHE WAS HAND WRITING ME THE BILL AND TRYING TO ADD IT UP I NOTICED THAT SHE WAS CHARING ME TWO DOLLARS FOR MY GRANDSON WAS NINE MONTHS OLD AND NOT EATING ) COMPANY RULES.....REALLY ........WE WAITED AGAIN THE MANAGER WAS GIVING EVERY ONE THERE TWO DOLLARS BACK FOR USING THE ATM ...SO ONE MAN AND TWENTY PEOPLE IN LINE AND HAND WRITING THE BILLS....I WAS ANGRY AT THIS TIME WE ARE NOW WAITNG FORTY FIVE MINUTES SICK BABY AND I WAS TEMPTED TO WALK RIGHT OUT TO THERE.... FINALLY ALL SAID AND DONE I LEFT THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE WITHOUT TIPPING.....I TOLD THE GIRL I WAS NOT ANGRY AT HER BUT THE SITUATION AND I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO MANDARIN ....MY FAMILY LOVES MANDRIN BUT I AM SO TURNED OFF..I HAD TO VENT MY COMPLAINT.

We normally go to the Queensway location, however recognized your Manager that is at the above location, so tried it. Took special out of town guests for lobster & roast beef Christmas dinner and, we were all very disappointed. They were N.B.guests, so knew their lobster, and we all found it too tough to eat and, also the roast beef was too tough to eat.
VERY disappointed .... would not recommend at this time.
Customer service was fine but food was very disappointing

We often eat at Mandarin, and usually at the Queensway location. We enjoy the variety of food as well as the service. It is always well maintained.
Today, we went The food was tasty, as expected. But it was cold. Not even lukewarm. cold.
My husband called, just to let them know and the first lady (Lily?) listened and said she would give him to the manager (may have been assistant manager). We were not looking for free food or anything but the girl, Jennifer, became very defensive. How long did it take? 45 minutes is reasonable. He reiterated that the complaint was not in the time (we had been quoted about an hour) but rather that it was cold. We do know that we are on the border of their delivery area. When she told us that we are too far away, my husband advised that they should not include this area on the delivery map. When he told her that we eat there often, she advised him that maybe next time he should just come down himself and pick it up...... NOT IMPRESSED. With either the food or the customer service.

The food was fine, but it wasn't real busy and I found the waiters just stood beside our table while we ate, and were constantly at our table trying to talk to us. The manager came around twice giving us his business card . It was a little too much, I half expected them to come over and wipe our mouths. Then when I would ask for extra napkins for our table (we have two children) he would give us one, and then he would take our dirty napkins but not replace it. we couldn't wait to get out of there. I think I will stick to the st catharines location. Nothing worse then people hovering over top of you while you try to have a family dinner.

Recently visited the Mandarin overall customer service was good. Buffet was stocked well but when we called to make an reservation was told no crab on buffet. Seen on the website it was available, called back to confirm different person answered indicating yes its on the buffet. Our drinks came quickly but when we ate the crab it wasn't like it normally is ?? Kinda bland not salty the way crab normally is.... possibly not cooked properly. We love the Mandarin and will return again hopefully to a good crab feast this time!!!
